Welcome to the Japanese Society of Applied Entomology and Zoology

The official website of the Japanese Society of Applied Entomology and Zoology provides information on our society and its activities as much as possible. The Japanese Society of Applied Entomology and Zoology membership is composed of approximately 2,000 researchers that study insects, mites, spiders, nematodes, birds and other animals. These researchers are engaged in both basic and applied research activities for plant and animal protection, especially pest control, environmental preservation, utilization of insects and other related areas. The insects and animals studied by members of our society are familiar in our daily life and many people are interested in specimen collections, ecological photography, and other related activities. Moreover, these organisms are often used as teaching materials for lectures and experiments in biology.

Membership

Anyone who wishes to become a member should access "Member Information Service". If you have any trouble, please contact the administrative office.

Ordinary Member:: receive both the Japanese Journal of Applied Entomology and Zoology (in Japanese), and the Applied Entomology and Zoology (in English), Annual fee of personal Ordinary Members: 10,000 yen (Domestic only).
Student Member:: receive both the Japanese Journal of Applied Entomology and Zoology (in Japanese), and the Applied Entomology and Zoology (in English), the fee: 5,000 yen (Domestic only).
Overseas Member A:: The fee of a personal member who lives in foreign countries is 7,000 yen, receive either Japanese Journal of Applied Entomology and Zoology (in Japanese).
Overseas Member B:: The fee of a personal member who lives in foreign countries is 12,000 yen, receive both Japanese Journal of Applied Entomology and Zoology (in Japanese), and Applied Entomology and Zoology (in English). The above annual fee is good from 2009 fiscal year.

We strongly recommend an applicant for membership to send the amount through "Member Information Service".

Outline - About the JSAEZ

The Japanese Society of Applied Entomology and Zoology was founded in 1957, as a result of a merger between the Japanese Society for Applied Zoology (Journal: Oyo-Doubutsugaku Zasshi), founded in 1929, and the Nippon Society of Applied Entomology (Journal: Oyo-Kontyu), founded in 1938. Membership is open to researchers who are interested in the fields of applied entomology and zoology, including acarology, nematology, pesticides and pest control equipment.

The Society publishes two separate quarterly journals in February, May, August, and November: Japanese Journal of Applied Entomology and Zoology (in Japanese) Coden: NIPTAR, ISSN 0021-4914, and Applied Entomology and Zoology (in English) Coden: APEZAW, ISSN 0003-6862.
